Mets right-hander R.A. Dickey won his 20th game of the season on Thursday, becoming the first Mets starting pitcher to do so since Frank Viola accomplished it in 1990. Dickey picked up the win against the Pirates, allowing 8 hits and striking out 13 over 7 2/3 innings.

Dickey, who remains a strong candidate for the 2012 NL Cy Young Award, becomes the sixth Mets pitcher ever to win 20 games, joining Tom Seaver, Dwight Gooden, Jerry Koosman, David Cone and Frank Viola.
