The New York Mets today announced that the club has acquired outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for minor league righthanded pitchers Luis Cessa and Michael Fulmer.
Cespedes has posted a .293 batting average with 62 runs scored, 28 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs and 61 RBI in 102 games this season.
Yoenis is expected to join the Mets on Saturday night, which is also Fireworks Night, when the Mets continue their three-game series against the Washington Nationals. Fans can stay after the game for a spectacular postgame fireworks show.
